Abstract

This article aims to understand how the change management process is influenced by the structure of junior companies in the state of Paraná. To achieve the proposed objective, a theoretical-empirical research, of qualitative nature and descriptive type, was carried out, in which semi-structured interviews were conducted with seven directors and presidents, leaders of the companies studied. Questionnaires were also answered by 86 members of junior companies. The results showed that, in addition to the influence identified from the type of structure adopted, the greatest influences found are related to the hierarchy present in these structures. It was possible to observe how adherence to changes, the feeling of participation or, even, the freedom of questioning decrease as the hierarchical level to which the member belongs within the hierarchy decreases. This relationship can be explained by the fact that the hierarchy of structures allows members to have different views of the problems that occur in companies and, also, by the different powers of delegation and decision attributed to each position. It is concluded that the structure can dictate how the changes will occur within the organization and, thus, have a direct influence on the result of these changes. Therefore, it is essential to understand this relationship so that managers can rethink how they are using the structure of organizations in favor of changes, or even rethink the structure to make changes more assertive.
