Abstract

This article seeks to estimate the income differentials between genders from the perspective of the theory of compensatory differentials. Assessing income as a result of the qualification of labor and gender, not necessarily characterizing the income differential between genders as a process of social discrimination, but a natural behavior of a free market economy in which the economic agent chooses which occupation enter in line with your skills and preferences in view of the risk and pleasantness of the occupation. The data were subtracted from the continuous PNAD 2012 and 2019, in which a comparison of the results for the two years was carried out. The result showed that within a homogeneous social stratum for formal workers who work 40 to 44 hours a week, the income differential between genders showed a relatively lower result than that conventionally demonstrated in the literature, in addition to showing a decrease between the years under analysis.
