Abstract

The Afro-Brazilian fashion, or just Afro fashion, and its challenges is a subject of great importance, because Brazil has a huge black population and does not have the necessary representation for these parcels. The research was performed in a city of Zona da Mata in the state of Minas Gerais and its objective was to highlight the challenges of afro-brazilian fashion entrepreneurs and how they have to develop their work. The methodology used was based on semi-structured interviews, using a descriptive research with a quantitative approach to data collection, where the interviewees were chosen for accessibility. The results show that the greatest chellenges pointed out by the interviewees are linked to discrimination and prejudice experienced in the market. As an alternative, entrepreneurs use social media as a way to face these challenges and take advantage of the opportunities present in the consumer market.
