The educational level of population may determine many characteristics and particularities of consumption. This study analyzed, through surveys carried out with students of secondary level of an educative establishment, the knowledge about medicines which established the topics of the actions to be developed in the extension activities. The results demonstraded that there is almost no knowledge about medications use; the high consumption of medications (mostly NSAIDs); that approximately three out of five respondents used drugs in the last three months and seven out of ten were female. Besides, four out of ten students alluded to resort to medications recommended by relatives or close friends to deal with passing discomfort and the vast majority expressed the need to be informed about the medicines they take. A training offered to students during their early educative stages could change their future atittudes as consumers, avoiding the possibility of interference of factors that counteract the proper use of medicines.References
