This study aimed at evaluating cancer patients’ satisfaction with the type of educational-assisting nursing care they received and relating it to their sociodemographic data. This is a transversal, quantitative study carried out with cancer patients assisted by the Acolhe-Onco Extension Program of the Federal University of São Paulo, at the outpatient care of the São Paulo Hospital, in São Paulo, Brazil. The tools employed were: sample characterization and the Patient Satisfaction Tool, comprising 25 questions, distributed into three domains using the Likert scale. The data was analyzed through the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and the Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed patients with a high level of satisfaction in all items and domains, over the 3.3 (0-5) mean value, with the highest satisfaction mean related to the technical-professional and confidence domains. Statistically significant correlation was not found between the sociodemographic data and the patients’ satisfaction. The findings point out the benefits of the nursing actions developed for the self-management evidenced in the patients’ satisfaction evaluation.
