Autism Spectrum Disorder encompasses characteristics that affect the communication, social interaction, and behavior of diagnosed individuals. Animal-Assisted Therapy aims to improve social, physical, emotional, and cognitive aspects. The study aimed to enhance the connection and engagement of the local community of Camboriú with IFC through the implementation of animal-assisted therapy activities. The project "Zootherapy: The Therapeutic Impact of Animals on the Health and Well-being of Individuals with ASD" was conducted by IFC - Campus Camboriú. Weekly sessions involved petting, caressing, hugs, playtime, and feeding. The results showed reductions in fears and anxieties, as well as improvements in interpersonal relationships, social development, and language skills of the participants. Zootherapy proved promising in promoting emotional well-being and developing social skills in individuals with ASD, highlighting the importance of collaborative partnerships between the Institute and AMA for the social inclusion and personal development of children and youth with ASD.
