The work carried out by recyclable material collectors generates important benefits for the environment and for society, however, these professionals are still faced with a series of prejudices due to the nature of their activity. For this reason, the extension project “Diary of a Residue” sought to develop an educational folder about the Associations of Recyclable Material Collectors in the municipality of Ponta Grossa, aiming to increase the knowledge and appreciation of these professionals. For the preparation of the folder, visits were made to the associations, with the aim of gathering information about their organization and functioning, as well as the main challenges. Through this work, it was possible to build an educational material with relevant information about the service provided by the associations, in addition to highlighting the need for greater collaboration from the population, with a view to better quality of life and social inclusion of these professionals.
