This study aims to present the Extension Project "Tourism Monitor Course" for the training of residents from the quilombola community of Furnas do Dionísio and residents of municipality of Jaraguari-MS, to guide, direct, and provide information to visitors and tourists in the Community. Mixed methods research was employed, combining qualitative and quantitative approaches, as well as action research to engage participants in the construction of new knowledge. Among the achieved results, it was observed that the Extension Project constitutes necessary action for the development of tourism in the community. Although the community has been involved in tourism activities for over two decades, it has not yet fully embraced community-based tourism. However, the trainees indicated that the learning experience on various topics was positive and has the potential to provide additional income to the residents, as well as to enhance the appreciation of local history and culture.
