Abstract

This article contains the results and description of the implementation process of the extension project, approved in Notice PAEX 01/2020 of the State University of Minas Gerais (uEMG). The purpose of the project was to integrate the University in the construction of the municipal policy for Food Security and Sustainable Nutrition in a medium-sized city in the Midwest of Minas Gerais. The policy was conceived through dialogue by the Intersectoral Chamber for Nutritional Food Security (CAISAN). The methodological proposal is based on the constructivist paradigm, inspired by the idea that there are many socially constructed realities. The elaboration of the SANS municipal plan involved an interinstitutional commission created by the Municipal Council for Sustainable Food and Nutritional Security of Divinópolis (COMSEANS), under the coordination of the University. The result of the university extension project was the approval of the SANS municipal plan and the organization of actions aimed at implementing the plan in the municipality, today a regional reference.
