PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSISTANCE TO POST-COVID-19 PATIENTS: PULMONARY REHABILITATION

Objectives: Offer respiratory physiotherapeutic rehabilitation to individuals affected by COVID-19. Methods: The project was developed by the State University of Northern Paraná (UENP), patients were evaluated to ascertain their level of functional capacity and respiratory function and, based on the results obtained, treatment plans were prepared for each patient, lasting from 4 to 8 weeks. Resultados: The project lasted more than a year and treated 17 patients, with the participation of 21 students and 3 specialist professors. Patients show improvement after weeks of treatment, especially with regard to symptoms of fatigue severity and functional capacity according to the 6-minute walk test. Conclusion: In the social sphere, this project had a significant impact on patients, by promoting respiratory physiotherapeutic assistance aimed at post-COVID-19 rehabilitation, and on academics, by promoting knowledge and practical experience on outpatient cardiorespiratory rehabilitation in post-COVID-19.
