It’s known that tennis traditionally benefits teaching based on movements repetition, while methodologies such as “Teaching Games for Understanding” oppose decontextualized teaching. Aware, members of ITF launched the “Play and Stay” program, enabling students to play in the first class. The objective is investigate the influence of tennis on motor development and the efficiency of the methods in this task. The sample consists of 40 children participants of the extension project “Sport at UENP for children and adolescents”, divided into groups: each group stimulated by a method. TGMD-2 was applied before and after 17 weeks. Comparing pre- and post-intervention results, we found an increase in the spectrum of motor development (p<0.001) and in the proportions (%) of motor development (p=0.014). However, comparing the groups' post-intervention results, we didn’t observe significant differences (p=0.283). It’s concluded that the practice of tennis positively influences motor development, however, without greater efficiency of a method.
