Abstract

In this article, we present the experience report of a continuing education course, offered as an extension activity in 2021. The objective of this paper is to discuss research as an educational principle in Basic Education. 23 teachers of Basic Education and managers of a private school in the western region of Paraná participated in the activity. The analysis of the data collected through an open questionnaire was carried out from the Discursive Textual Analysis, arriving at the following final categories: the educate by research in the view of the teachers; conceptions of research and changes from the workshop; the importance of the research activity in the classroom. Among the course participants, it was possible to observe a transformative movement towards research as an educational principle, as the participating teachers recognized the importance of learning new scientific knowledge integrated into the contexts, environments, and spaces of the students, towards understanding the world. In the end, it is considered that research as an educational principle is a strategy and a teaching posture.
