The guardians of Creole seeds are the small producers who save and sow the countless varieties of traditional seeds. Thus, this work comes from an extension project entitled “Training child guardians: rescue, conservation and multiplication of creole seeds”, registered with the Dean of Extension and Culture - PREXC, of the Federal University of Piauí – UFPI, which had The central objective is to train young guardians of the genetic heritage of Creole seeds, through pedagogical workshops in a rural school in the municipality of Itainópolis-Piaui. 10 pedagogical workshops were held in a class of 34 students in the 6th year of Elementary School II. The activities provided students with the opportunity to learn about the role of guardians in caring for traditional seeds. With this initiative, it is expected that the conservation of native seeds will continue among subsequent generations.
