This text aims to analyze the production scenario and the market transformations present in the milk production chain in the municipality of Tobias Barreto/SE. Through a semi-structured questionnaire applied to 22 family livestock farmers, it was possible to obtain information regarding socioeconomic, productive and marketing characteristics. The results indicate that producers with the highest production, from 101 to 300 l/day, are, in numbers, most responsible for the quantity produced. However, they do not have the highest productivity, being larger only in quantity produced, as producers with 51 to 100 l/day have the highest productivity. In relation to the price received per liter of milk, producers of 101 to 300 l/day and 51 to 100 l/day, although they stand out in terms of quantity produced and productivity, receive the lowest prices on the market; producers of 0 to 50 l/day are those who receive the highest values. In addition to noticing a process of integration of the dairy industry, which makes producers opt for formal marketing channels, with a focus on direct sales to the dairy. Therefore, it is possible to conclude that there is heterogeneity in productivity, management and marketing practices in dairy farming.
