Abstract

Technological innovations have revolutionized the modern world with surprising results. Spreading science and technology among public school students in Brazil means encouraging future mentors in innovative processes, especially in the healthcare field. The objective of this work is to report on an experience promoted in the extension action called "Innovation and Technology: Molecular Biology (MB) at the service of health and within schools." The project was developed with high school students to demonstrate the applicability of BM technology for human health. The methodological approach employed various strategies involving active methodologies, such as interactive teaching models, gamification, and interactive stations with BM techniques and technologies. It was possible to engage and motivate students in a meaningful activity, reinforcing the importance of scientific and technological knowledge in solving everyday problems and bringing concepts considered complex and abstract closer to socialized experiences.
