PERMANENT FORUM OF ELDERLY PEOPLE IN CAMPOS GERAIS: FROM THE PROPOSAL TO THE CREATION

The issue of aging has been the subject of debate in society as a whole due to the fast growth of elderly population, especially in the political and social level. In Brazil, the Federal Constitution of 1988, instituted a legal apparatus to deal with the rights of older people in which the state is responsible for ensuring these rights and the civil society is responsible, in view of the principle of democratization, for the social control through different forms of organization. Forums are real spaces for political organization and a way to strengthen social struggles, providing opportunity to articulate and propose actions to make effective the rights legally established. The aim of this paper is to report the history of the organization and creation of the Permanent Forum for Elderly in Campos Gerais. It arouse out of the extension project Assistance to the Permanent Forum for the Elderly in Campos Gerais.Downloads
