THE AFRICAN DESCENDANT AND ITS SOCIOSPATIAL RELATIONS IN UEPG: SPACES OF LUMINOSITY AND SPACES OF INVISIBILITY

The policy statement has been seeking the inclusion of African descendant in various segments of society. At universities such policy is evidenced by both the influx of teachers, students and staff as well as their inclusion in the places of education, research and extension, and also in administrative units. Although a policy with homogenizing guidelines, this does not guarantee its spatial extent, demonstrating spaces of more “luminosity” and spaces of total invisibility. Thus, this study seeks to analyze the spatial inclusion of African descendant in Ponta Grossa State University (UEPG), identifying areas of inclusion and forbidden spaces. For this purpose, secondary data are collected primarily alongside the different Deans’ offices of this institution (legislation, notices, statistics, etc.) as well as from the literature that has been produced within and outside the “walls” related to the issue. Secondly, it deepens into research by qualitative research with the “subject” of this process. Although affirmative action falls into policies of inclusion, they bring with themselves contradictions, also exacerbating prejudices and therefore bans.Downloads
