This study reports the experiences and the feelings awakened in participants during the tours conducted in the Mangal das Garças Park and Cultural Tancredo Neves Foundation as part of their engagement in the University Outreach Project “Poverty and environment between generations”. The project involved documentary and bibliographical research in addition to action research. The data collection instruments included interviews, essays, informal conversations, photographic records and direct observations. The data analysis indicated that the tourist activities within the project allowed the awakening of many feelings and sensations, the interest in studies and for the culture of the city as well as the stimulation of memory. In the case of the elderly, the activities allowed them to revisit the past. As for the children, the activities represented opportunities for learning outside the school walls. Therefore, it was observed that city tours are important tools for education, social inclusion and for the practice citizenship through leisure activities.Downloads
