AWAKENING THE PLEASURE OF READING: A LIBRARY WITH KNOWLEDGE AND FLAVOR
Keywords:
Reading, Elementary School, Students, Library.Abstract
The purpose of this article is to share the results of an Outreach Project carried out in a Municipal School in Campos dos Goytacazes with 6th to 9th grade students during the 2013 school year. The project intended both to set up a library, as well as to analyze the type of relationship that students developed with reading. Data were generated through classroom observation, questionnaires and activities that stimulated reading. The results show that reading cannot be considered the mere passive decoding of words, but an activity that needs to be stimulated by family and teachers through “reading models”, as well as students’ freedom and flexibility to choose the themes they want to read.Downloads
