PRACTICES FOR THE CULTURE OR PEACE IN THE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT
Abstract
The effectiveness of the principles guaranteeing the rights of children and adolescents in Brazil depends not only on laws, but also on actions that make it possible to comply with the normative requirements. The purpose of this article is to present Restorative Justice as one more tool in the search for building environments of peace for children and adolescents to develop under protection. One of the essential spaces, in this sense, is the school. Enabling teachers to know the main aspects of guaranteeing laws, to know Restorative Justice, to participate in continuing education focused on the subject and to work on this proposal through action-research projects are important ingredients in the pursuit of this end. This scientific investigation consulted bases such as the Universal Declaration of Children's Rights, the Federal Constitution, the Child and Adolescent Statute, in addition to renowned authors in studies on Education and Restorative Justice. In addition to the bibliographical research, this article reports the author's experience with Restorative Practices in public schools. The conclusion is that Restorative Justice has the potential to promote a culture of peace and ensure healthy relationships in the school environment and multiply in the local community.
