IDENTITY AND TEACHING MEMORY: A PERSPECTIVE OF SOCIAL AND HISTORICAL RE-DEFINING IN ALTO URUGUAI REGION (COREDE NORTE)

Saving documents and memories that mark and symbolize moments of the trajectory of lives is a common activity. Some people feel the need to keep every type of document; to others, it is enough to save only documents from meaningful moments. From an outsider point of view, documents may be considered just "old papers", but for those who see them from a researcher´s perspective, they are research sources that allow knowing not only the documents, but also customs, culture and habits of the time under study. In addition, to documentary sources, the preservation of memory through Oral History methodology is of paramount importance. Therefore, we proposed to develop search activities, analysis and re-signification of teachers´ memory who worked in rural areas from 1950-1980 in Corede Norte / RS in order to collect oral testimonies of teachers who worked in the Basic School therefore saving their memories.
