The essay reports on the experience of teachers in a curricular unit entitled Education, communication and health, offered in the undergraduate Nursing course for the curricularization of extension at a public university, and the challenges faced in offering quality education during the COVID-19 pandemic. The theoretical and practical activities focused on education and extension; communication in Nursing and the multidimensionality of the human being. The practices took place virtually in 15 extension projects with debate and the creation of educational materials according to the needs of the community. The students had greater contact with the extension projects and were made aware of communication and education with the community, understanding it as a path to social transformation.
