Special Education curriculum adaptations contribute to the development of assistive technologies and these give support to the inclusive education process. The education system, at different levels, must provide tools to ensure students with disabilities access to the curriculum. This research is a branch of the Extension Project "Resources, Adaptations and Assistive Technologies for Pupils with Special Needs" developed by the Special and Inclusive Education Center of UERJ with the purpose of constructing and validating an assistive technology to aid the teaching and learning of trees in Data Structure for students with visual impairment in order to encourage these individuals’ learning in the field of Computer Science. A literature review was carried out, and a model in relief was developed and validated for visually impaired computing students. The study reached its goal, since students could understand the concepts of trees and do the tasks they had been assigned.Downloads
