Abstract

This inquiry has as intention to understand the relationships between the profiles of daily intra-urban displacements developed by men and women and the differentiated reproduction of their conditions of poverty, taking as empirical reference the inhabitants of the Village Dom Bosco and the Vila Nova in Ponta Grossa. The displacement characteristics are crossed transversally by the gender question, since men and women possess socially differentiated papers. After interviewing approximate one hundred fifty households, the results evidenced that there was an empahsis in the different reasons that made men and women to dislocate themselves in space. Other verified elements were the differences of intensity and destination of the displacements of men and women. This differentiation is determined by the social papers that our culture has constructed for both men and women, the representation of the feminine and masculine gender, asymmetry that concatenates the distinguishing access of both to the urban space.
