FORMAS DE CRECIMIENTO URBANO DE LAS CIUDADES MEDIAS ESPAÑOLAS EN LAS ÚLTIMAS DÉCADAS

Abstract

O artigo apresenta os resultados de um trabalho de pesquisa sobre os processos de urbanização das cidades médias espanholas e suas áreas urbanas na Espanha desde 1987. Os resultados indicam que os aumentos da superfície urbanizada vivenciada nessas áreas são, relativamente, os mais importantes do conjunto urbano do país. Além disso, esses crescimentos foram gerados com urbanizações menos densas, mais extensas e não apenas relacionados a usos residenciais. A intensidade e o transbordamento dos processos de urbanização, especialmente durante o período da ‘década prodigiosa do urbanismo espanhol’ (1998-2008), aponta para uma mudança no tradicional modelo compacto dessas cidades.
