Student Movement and Political-Organizational Dimension: a necessary debate in professional training in Social Work

Abstract
The reflections in this article refer to the experiences of the authors in the Student Movement in Social Work (MESS), registered in a research of Scientific Initiation, whose objective was to understand what the students of the Social Work course think and know about this Student Movement, as a politicalorganizational dimension, during the professional training, at the Federal University of the Triângulo Mineiro (UFTM). The research, whose analysis was based on the critical dialectic method, was carried out with students enrolled in the 5th to 8th period of the course and the data collection through the application of a closed questionnaire. The results indicated a synthesis of the concrete reality expressed in the voices of the research subjects, which signify the MESS as necessary for the political organization of the category, as well as for the strengthening of social struggles and the hegemonic ethical-political project of Social Service.
