Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

SUBMISSION GUIDELIDES


1. Register yourself as “author” in the TEL journal plataform;

2. Access the plataform as ‘author’ and follow the instructions for submission (texts can only be submitted through the plataform);

3. The material for publication must be according to the following editorial rules:
a) The title must contain a maximum of 75 characters with spaces
b) Bellow the title there must be the abstract with a maximum of 400 characters with spaces, and the keywords (minimum of 3, maximum of 5)
c) The texts (unprecedent articles, book reviews, review essays and bibliographical updatings, projects of research or source gathering) must have: A4 format pages, doc files, Times New Roman source, size 12, 1.5 space between lines and margins of 2 cm.
d) Exclude from the archive all information that may allow the identification of the author. All the information about authors and, eventually, the supervisors/tutors, must be supplied in details only and necessarily in the plataform of the journal.
e) Book reviews  must have titles (both in Portuguese and English), followed by the complete bibliographical reference of the work analyzed.  Reviews do not contain abstracts, key-words, notes nor bibliographical references.
f) The bibliographical reference of the work analyzed must follow the ABNT author-date model (CANDIDO, 2001, p. 24). The occasional note at the bottom of the page must have only an explanatory character.
g) In case illustrations are used, they must be inserted  within the body of the text and  annexed as complementary file in the JPG format; they must also have at least a 300 dpi resolution, as far as the whole file does not surpass 1.2 Mb.
h) The author may inform the source that financed the research together with the information for the editor at the moment of the submission.
i) The writing of the text must obey the 2008 orthographical agreement for the Portuguese language.
j) The complete references must follow the ABNT model and be included at the end of the text. There must be references of only those works used in the text. After that, there can be listed the sources, tables and illistrations, if the case.

    In the case of a book:
    FRANCO NETO, F. Senhores e escravos no Paraná provincial. Guarapuava: Unicentro, 2011.

    In the case of a chapter of a book:
    KLUG, João. Imigração no sul do Brasil. In: GRINBERG, Keila; SALLES, Ricardo (Orgs.). O Brasil imperial. Rio de Janeiro: Civilização Brasileira, 2009. p. 199-231.

k) Quotations containing up to three lines must be placed, between inverted commas,  within the body of the sentence; quotations longer than three lines must be placed separately from the body of the text, 4 cm from the left margin, without inverted commas, with simple space between lines  and source size 10.
l) The use of italics must be limited to foreign words and titles of books; bold type must not be used in the texts nor in the notes; underlining must be avoided, except for internet addresses (URL)
m) The editors may refuse the text, even before assigning  evaluators, when these guidelines are not followed.
n) The editors also have the right to make small alterations to the text  for editorial purposes that do not compromise the content.

4) Sending the article implies the transfer of authorial and publication rights to TEL. Authors are totally responsible for the  unprecedentness  of the text, its grammatical revision, the information, concepts and opinions expressed in the works, as well as the precision of the documental and bibliographical references.

A temática desta seção será escolhida previamente pelo Conselho Editorial e divulgada nos editais de chamada com a antecedência máxima possível de seu número de publicação. Os textos desta seção passam pela avaliação dos organizadores do dossiê e de avaliadores externos.

publica, sob forma de artigo, trabalhos resultantes de pesquisas originais ou de revisão bibliográfica, concluídas totalmente ou com conclusões parciais. Os textos devem ser inéditos em periódicos de qualquer espécie, bem como em capítulos de livros, publicados ou no prelo. O fluxo para recebimento de Artigos Livres é contínuo. Os textos nesta seção são avaliados a partir do sistema double-blind peer review.

Ensaios | Essays | Ensayos

destina-se à publicação de textos que tratam de um recorte específico nas áreas das Humanidades, em temática livre. Embora não sejam extensos e nem tenham a profundidade de um artigo, situam essa temática com relação à área estudada. Os textos nesta seção são avaliados a partir do sistema double-blind peer review.

publica opiniões e/ou declarações de profissionais da área de História ou disciplinas afins que envolvam questões pertinentes ao debate historiográfico. Os textos nesta seção são avaliados pelo Conselho Editorial.

Resenhas | Book Reviews | Reseñas

Resenhas de livros com, no máximo, dois anos de publicação.

Projetos de Pesquisa | Research's Note | Proyecto de Investigación

destina-se à publicação de projetos de mestrado e doutorado ainda em fase de elaboração ou execução. Os originais devem apresentar campos básicos de um projeto de pesquisa, tais como apresentação, justificativa, objetivos, metodologia e bibliografia. Nesta seção os textos são avaliados por um membro do Conselho Editorial e um parecerista externo. A partir de Dezembro de 2021 a TEL não estará recebendo mais textos para essa seção.
