Gramsci’s thinking and the research about education policies

Abstract

In the light of the historical and dialectical materialism, this text aims to reflect on the contributions of Antonio Gramsci’s thinking to the analysis of education policies. To this end, an incursion into the Gramscian writings in order to highlight his concern with the understanding of reality and the need for its transformation to universally change the way of life of men is made. Some essential assumptions that researchers need to consider when operating with Gramsci’s thinking without becoming methodological bonds are indicated. Finally, the relevance of his writings is reaffirmed.
