Methodological challenges of research in education financing: essential aspects collected from studies published in the Fineduca journal

Abstract

The objective of this article is to systematize reflections on how to carry out research on education financing, based on elements that researchers on this subject have built for knowledge in this field, as well as to identify the challenges involved and the methodological options developed so far. For the development of these reflections, the study was structured around three axes: a) understanding education financing as a dispute for public funds, explaining which conceptual framework the authors share to analyze the field of financing; b) the exercise of theme analysis of the articles in Fineduca journal, having as a central problem the contribution and methodological tools that have operated in research for funding; c) discussion on the most used methodological tools and their implications. With this provocation, it was sought to make the methodologies and choices more explicit in order to advance from a more descriptive study to a more analytical study on financing policies. In this sense, the collective systematization of procedures for methodological solutions seems essential for new researchers and research studies to advance knowledge.
