LOCKSS

The LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system to ensure secure and permanent archiving of your journal cache are supported by OJS. LOCKSS is open source software developed by the Stanford University Library, which allows you to preserve chosen online journals by scanning their pages for newly published content and archiving it. Each file is continuously validated against copies from other libraries. If the content is corrupted or lost, copies are used for restoration.

CLOCKSS

Open Journal Systems also supports the CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system to ensure a safe and permanent archive for the journal. CLOCKSS is based on the open source LOCKSS software developed at the Stanford University Library that allows libraries to preserve selected regularly registered journals. Each file is continually validated against other library records, and if the content is characterized as corrupt or lost, the other records or journal is used to restore it.

Institutional archiving: Backup performed by the institution daily on two units: disk and LTO 6 tape
