Abstract

This paper presents an analysis on quotas in public Higher Education Institutions, based on doctoral dissertations produced in Brazilian Graduate Programs in Education from 2012 to 2018, in the light of McCowan’s concept of equity in Higher Education, in dialogue with the literature on affirmative actions and Stetsenko’s Proposal of Transformative Activism. The results show the relevance of the quota law, the ethical and moral arguments supported by the authors of theses for the maintenance and improvement of this law, as well as the recommendations related to the access and permanence of the quotaholders.

Keywords: Affirmative Actions. Quotas. Law no. 12.711/2012.  Meta-research.
