Abstract

Paulo Freire contributed significantly to the demystification of pedagogy in the 60s, permeated with notions that the contemporary school still struggles to suppress from the educational process. Considering the relevance and impetus of Freirian theory in education around the world, it is proposed to analyze the main conceptions of the philosopher and educator as a proposal for improving education, thus weaving a brief assessment of the main thoughts of his pedagogy . For this, bibliographic consultation is used as a methodology through qualitative research. In the proposed study, Freire's testimony about his actions and ideas dedicated to spreading not only theories, but among them and through them, a dream, a possible utopia, is remarkable. The belief in the subject's viable novelty, and in what he can overcome and build by / in education, is essential for the transformation of a society.
