Abstract

This paper discusses the concepts of scientific field, scientific habitus and scientific capital in the analysis of the training of researchers in the field of Education Policy. This discussion is part of a broader research that aimed to apprehend aspects of the habitus of the training of researchers for the field of Education Policy in Stricto Sensu Graduate Programs in Education that have Doctoral courses with a line of research related to Education Policy in Brazil. It was verified that Bourdieu’s theory appears as a very fruitful theory for the analysis of the training of researchers in the field of Education Policy. It was found that the concept of scientific field comprises the relationships existing within the training of researchers in the field of Education Policy, the struggles, interests, positions and decision-making within this field. The concept of scientific habitus is understood as a mediator of the relationships between agents and structures in the scientific field, which has scientific capital as a strategy to gain its recognition and prestige.

Keywords: Training of researchers. Education Policy. Bourdieu.
