Abstract

This work focuses on children's cultures and their articulation with the right of child citizens, based on socio-anthropological contributions and cultural psychology. Using an interpretive narrative from an ethnographic perspective, we circumscribe the case study to a kindergarten, where, in a holistic way and through the recognition of the artifacts created by children as revealers of children's cultures, we scrutinize ways and opportunities for children to be social actors and participate in the co-construction of your curriculum. Using visual methodologies and content analysis, we focus on children's interactions and productions, in different formats and supports, as a result of their autonomous activity, in pairs or in groups, in a public kindergarten. The children's projects lead to knowledge about childhood and the construction processes of children's cultures.

Maria Manuela de Sampaio Pinto Silva, Agrupamento de Escolas Amado de Souza Cardoso

Ph.D. in Child Studies, in the field of sociology of childhood, she works directly with young children - 3 to 6 years old - since 1982. In her professional career, she contacted with a great variety of social environment in her country and had the possibility to listen, talk and construct pedagogy , with children and their families throughout time. The interest around social analyses and children cultures have had a crucial paper in understanding childhood and promoting their studies by contributing to a better pedagogical practice. So, she developed her studies, published texts, communications and projects, simultaneously with the pedagogical practice.
